Eligibility: All playwrights must fill out our online submission form (below), which is only available during our submission window, which opens on November 1, 2020. Plays submitted before November 1, 2020 will not be considered.
Additionally, please understand, due to staffing levels (and a desire to keep unsolicited submissions free), we can only accept the first 100 unsolicited submissions* received in 2020-2021.
*Important Update: Nov. 3, 10AM. Wow, barely 48 hours after opening the window for unsolicited applications, we now must close it, as we have already received 112 unsolicited submissions, all of which we have accepted. There will be no way to successfully submit an unsolicited script through the form in the 2020-2021 cycle.
While we would like to accept work from all writers wishing to submit, at this pace we would have been overwhelmed with potentially thousands of scripts. Our reading committee is not large (or paid), and as headed by graduate playwrights, they value adhering to a “no submission fee”, which further informs this decision. Please plan to send us your play in the following cycle.
While this may disappoint, the silver lining is there’s a lot of new work in the pipeline! Writers have been writing, which gives hope for when we are back in the theatre and back at work. Thank you and be well.
Please Note: Playwrights whose work has been solicited, agent submissions, and playwrights who currently reside in, or are originally from, Arkansas are welcome to apply until the Dec. 16, 2020 deadline. Please fill out our online form, indicating who solicited your work/agent affiliation, or your ties to Arkansas.
