Our story begins when Hope, a woman who has become homeless, is forced to move in with her fussy sister, Grace. There’s escalating family drama and supernatural creepiness. Then Hope gets a job at the More Employment Agency, a temp Agency run by the Devil! Grace’s boyfriend, Randy, wants to be a viral social media influencer so badly that he sells his soul to MEDIA, a demonic online computer. MORE is a musical about the biggest problems of our contemporary times: MORE is creepy, it’s funny, it’s deep. There’s lots of audience engagement and plenty of spectacle. Think “Nightmare Before Christmas” meets “Damn Yankees” meets “Glengarry Glen Ross” MORE is Faust for the 21st Century. Over the last 20 years Steve Couch has built the show MORE to address problems that keep people from finding happiness and true purpose. Studying horror, comedy, and musical theater he utilizes their best moments to present difficult and uplifting themes in the most engaging and entertaining ways. To workshop the project, he created a full audio book of the musical in 2022 using the demo singers to record the songs and dialogue to better understand plot strengths and weaknesses, and has since re-written parts of the play accordingly. His goal is to get the help and vision of theater professionals to fully develop the musical as complete staged and touring productions. Steve Couch (book, lyrics, music, and arrangement) is a songwriter, comedian, children’s entertainer, videographer and animator. He is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatist Guild. He has spent his life as an entertainer, studying how to engage people and better them emotionally. He has toured as a musician in and with national acts, managed video departments, created award winning music and toured through out Midwest with original comedy music and his children’s shows that feature animation and science-based edutainment. |
