Overview:

Off the Beaten Path is a “Pick Your Path” (choose your own adventure style) fantasy musical that follows a ragtag group of companions seeking a powerful artifact that could destroy the world. Full of epic battles, sacrifice, love, secrets, intrigue, and a fantasy inspired musical score, the audience ultimately decides the fate of the heroes. This multi-platform musical experience has over 135 different scripted incarnations (and a secret ending that the audience can unlock) which allows Off the Beaten Path audiences to keep coming back for more.

Bios:

Tory Doctor’s career as an Actor, Writer, Director and Producer spans over 30 years in hundreds of productions throughout 40 countries. Select credits include: The Secret Garden; Hey, Mr. Producer!; Cats; Legends; Beauty and the Beast; Blood Brothers; Me and My Girl; Man of La Mancha; Grease; Evita; Anne of Green Gables; Austentacious; Dirty Rotten Scoundrels; Damn Yankees; My Fair Lady; Guys and Dolls; A Christmas Carol; Crossing Swords; and Married Alive. Tory has also worked with the world’s largest producers of musicals, Disney and Cameron Macintosh. He is also an accomplished writer having written four musicals and over 20 plays that take place in Arlyrus, the world of Off the Beaten Path.

Melody McClellan, one of OBPmusical’s co-creators, is an actor and singer originally from SC and currently living in Seattle, Washington. With a background in opera and musical theatre, performance highlights include: Maria/Lisa Simpson in Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play; Dyanne in Million Dollar Quartet; Allison in First Date; Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd; Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly!; Giulietta in I Capuleti e Montecchi; Gasparina in La Canterina; Nella in Gianni Schicchi; Genovieffa in Suor Angelica; and The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. She has co-written over a dozen plays with Tory Doctor and is his co-creator for the world of Arlyrus.

Nico Rhodes is one of the most in demand young arranger/musical directors in Canada, with 40 stage musicals to his credit. He’s written 400 original compositions, four original musicals and arranged two symphonic pops concerts. He’s been nominated for two Jessie and five Ovation Awards and in 2019 was honoured with Nanaimo’s Emerging Cultural Leader Award. He composes for stage, screen, and media, collaborates with multiple choirs, plays with several jazz trios and tours in a duo with his mother, renowned chanteuse Joelle Rabu. In 2022 Nico created his dream show – Piano Heist and produced a series of four multi-artist multi-genre concerts entitled Chapters for The Port Theatre in Nanaimo B.C.
