Description:

Playwrights Foundation has been a new play launch pad home for playwrights to explore, create, and collaborate for more than 40 years.

The Bay Area Playwrights Festival is one of the oldest and most successful new play festivals in the US. Established in 1976 by Robert Woodruff, the festival has continuously discovered original and distinctive new voices in the theater, and invested in the development of their work.

Surprising, provocative and always engaging, the Rough Reading Series is a new play festival in its 12th year in which we bring a promising new text to light in an intimate setting. Annually, seven exceptional new works in development are read that push into new theatrical territory, challenge assumptions, and present deeply felt dilemmas within our culture and world society.

Comments from NMI Staff:
